We are currently seeking a Legislative Coordinator (Operations & Policy Analyst 4) at the Salem office of the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent, full-time position in management service.
What you will do!
As the Legislative Coordinator, you work with the Director and the Government Relations & External Affairs Team Director to address day-to-day legislative operations with achieve the agency’s legislative agenda.
What are we looking for?
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and five years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work; OR any combination of experience and education equivalent to eight years of professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess the following background, skills and experience:
• Knowledge of Oregon’s P-20 education system.
• Understanding of Educational Equity and ODE’s Equity Stance
• Experience providing advice or technical assistance to stakeholders or public.
• Excellent writing and speaking skills.
• Experience in legislative process.
• Experience in policy development and analysis.
• Experience with analysis of statutes, rules and policies.
• Experience with analysis of organizational budgets and fiscal reporting.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and complete a variety of simultaneous tasks.
• Experience working with culturally and individually diverse groups.
• Ability to solicit and value diverse viewpoints.
• Preference may be given to bilingual/bicultural candidates.
