Bend-La Pine Schools invites all qualified persons interested in the position of Principal at Bend Senior High School to apply. Bend Senior High School is a comprehensive high school, grades 9-12, located in east Bend. With more than 100 years of tradition and many local alumni, Bend Senior High School has developed strong ties among students, staff, and the community. The school is especially known for its signature programs in International Baccalaureate and Career Technical Education. Its performing arts and athletic teams are award-winning. Bend Senior High graduates represent their school at colleges and universities across the nation, including highly selective post-secondary institutions. The projected enrollment for the 2014-15 school year is 1,670 students.

The District will conduct a visit to the current job site of the top candidate prior to offering the position. The successful candidate will assume the position July 1, 2014 and will report to the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education.

• 238 day contract

• Salary estimate based on 13/14 schedule: $106,780 - $113,187

Unlike many districts, Bend-La Pine Schools currently pays the
employee’s portion of PERS bringing the comparable total compensation
to a range of $113,187 - $119,978

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Hold or qualify for appropriate Oregon administrative license
Minimum three years experience as a high school administrator; a strong high school teaching background
A clear vision of the high school instruction program; understanding high school issues
Ability to lead school improvement efforts informed by data that produce high achievement results
Strong communication skills that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents and the community
Effective management of school operations to support teaching and learning
Understanding effective educational programming, including English language development, talented and gifted, International Baccalaureate, career-technical education, special education, and teen parent program
Expertise in personnel selection, management, evaluation, and staff development
Strong fiscal manager; ability to marshal limited resources to meet student and school needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Facilitator of ideas; ability to articulate and develop a shared vision within the school community
Ability to create and foster a safe, student-centered culture where high expectations and learning are valued
Understanding of the role of instructional technologies
Supporter of co- and extracurricular programs and activities
Experience in multiple school settings or districts
Experience in working with a diverse student body
Bilingual and / or bicultural (Spanish)
