South Umpqua School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of A Special Education Teacher on Special Assignment.

The primary function of the Special Education TOSA is to work under the direction of and collaboratively with the Director of Student Achievement while providing support and technical assistance to the special education instructional and support staff working with identified special education students.

General function of the position include:
• Work collaboratively with a dynamic team to influence student learning District-wide.
• Communicate with multiple people at all levels of the District and work with the Student Achievement Department to be responsive to their needs.
• Contribute thoughts to the allocation of resources and the management of federal programs.
• Communicate directly with the State Department of Education to remain up to date on current requirements.
• Impact Special Education services District-wide through collaboration with administrators, teachers, students, and families.
• Ensure Individualized Educational Plans are well written and legally defensible.
• Create and maintain good working relationships with outside agencies.
• Increase knowledge of current trends in Special Education through networking, attending conferences, and performing research.
• Increase your facilitation skills by leading groups of teachers.
• Influence the direction of the District as it applies to our Priorities and Guiding Questions.
• Demonstrate managerial skills by overseeing a variety of District-level programs.

Start Date: August 2015 (exact date to be determined)

Minimum Requirements:
A valid Oregon Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement. Must possess specific knowledge and demonstrated ability to understand special education regulations, policies and procedures in relation to students, parents and staff. An Administrative License is preferred.

Salary: $33,504 – $61,340
