The full salary range for this position is $123,136.00 - $149,801.60. Offers are made at the beginning of the range.

Reporting directly to the Director of the Educational Service Agency, the Deputy Director of Special Education provides educational leadership and direction for school district special education programs within the member districts of the ESD 112 Special Education ESA.
The districts we serve are located up the I-5 corridor in Cowlitz county, the Columbia River Gorge, the Long Beach Peninsula, South Eastern Washington and North Central/Eastern Washington. This position will serve the West Columbia Gorge and ESA Service Region. It is full time, year round.

Essential Functions:
Support and collaborate with the Director of the ESA to develop long and short-range plans for the purpose of ensuring organizational and compliance objectives are achieved in an efficient and timely manner.
Use data, research and best practices to design and lead special education programs and services that provide special education students with a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.
Perform personnel administrative functions, including making recommendations to hire, train, supervise, evaluate special education staff, to include training, mentoring, and evaluating of Assistant Directors of Special Education.
Work with the ESD system and member school districts to design and implement ESA plans that support school and district improvement plans.
Assist local school districts, ESD personnel, parents, and students in the interpretation and implementation of the local district, state, an federal laws, regulations, and policies that govern educating students with disabilities.
Coordinate programs and services to identify, assess, place and serve eligible students special education services and ensure student progress.
Assign, supervise, evaluate and develop special education staff to support the educational needs of special education students. Includes coordination and assignment of special service providers (School Psychs, OTs, PTs, and SLPs).
Build and maintain productive relationships and strong partnerships with families, school district staff, community agencies; and local, state and federal government entities.
Manage the day-to-day special education program operations for assigned member districts. Assure compliance with all federal, state, agency and school district laws, rules, regulations and procedures that govern students with disabilities.
Represent Special Education ESA leadership at meetings and events with partners, families, and others as assigned.
Oversee personal services and agency contracts ensuring ESD 112 and Special Education ESA requirements are met. Includes building relationships with staffing agencies & personal services providers and ensuring that candidates meet certification and other standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Hold or eligible to hold a Washington administrative credential.
Hold or eligible to hold a valid Washington teaching certificate or ESA certification.
Master's degree
Three years teaching or other certificated experience (e.g., school psychologist, speech pathologist, physical therapist).
Three years of educational leadership experience as a Special Education K-12 administrator.
