We are seeking a Network Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 7) in the Operations and Support unit of our Office of Finance and Information Technology (OFIT) with the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent, full-time position, represented by the SEIU.
This position is ideal for those seeking more work/life balance. The successful candidate will have the option to work a hybrid schedule, combining both remote and in-office work. However, due to the specifics of this position, hybrid work is subject to change based on agency needs or director discretion.

This position is located in the Office of Finance and Information Technology (OFIT) Unit of the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) . This unit's primary functions are the support of technology to deliver on initiatives and meet ODE's technology needs in support of the ODE mission to foster excellence for every learner through innovation, collaboration, leadership and service to our education partners.
The technical expertise of staff in this unit are available to school districts and ESDs to support business and financial functions. The work of OFIT affects all internal staff and every school, program, school district and ESD in the state. Nearly all students in the State of Oregon public school system are affected by the work in this unit. Data is collected from nearly every educational administrative unit.
What you will do!
As a Network Analyst, you will use independent judgment in consultation with customers and agency management, to ensure effective implementation of information technologies in support of the agency’s mission and goals.
On a regular basis, you will have the opportunity to provide professional expertise to specialized business areas and units within the Department of Education and coordinate and collaborate with cross agency staff to ensure the customer’s needs are being met.
A day in the life:
The Network Analyst (ISS7) serves a crucial role in the Oregon Department of Education's infrastructure health and maintenance. The purpose of this position is to administer information systems including network infrastructure, server utilization, information security, systems log aggregation and review for the Oregon Department of Education. Some of the things you'll do include:
Administer and monitor ODE network logs through log aggregation, server log management with Regular review.
Maintain and support mission critical ODE infrastructure systems, servers and security technologies including resolution of major system events including systems that provide multi-site access to agency data for ODE employees, other agencies, LEAs & external partners.
Collaborates with other systems specialists and security personnel at other external agencies to ensure that solutions are coordinated and are consistent across agencies.
Utilize knowledge of networking, server administration, information security best practices and project management techniques to complete projects relating to information technology

What are we looking for?
Six (6) years of information systems experience in: network analysis
OR
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: network analyst
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: network analysis
OR
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Desired Attributes
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess a compelling combination of the following background, skills, and experience:
Extensive knowledge of firewalls to include Implementation, Rule Review, Log monitoring, and Architecture.
Experience with SIEM or comparable log review and management.
Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of personal integrity
Ability to handle confidential matters while exuding the appropriate level of judgment and maturity
