POSITION: Special Education Coordinator (Part-Time 25 hours/wk)
LOCATION: Wellsprings Friends School- Eugene, Oregon
COMPENSATION: Dependent on experience. Base wage starts at $30/hr. Benefits include a wellness incentive based on hours worked and a 3% 401k employer contribution.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Wellsprings Friends School is seeking a compassionate and organized Special Education Coordinator to join our small and dynamic team. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated group of educators and paraeducators committed to the holistic growth and success of our students. Working in close collaboration with the Dean of Students and our district partners, you will manage and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for high school-aged youth (grades 9–12) in an alternative education setting. We are looking for a candidate who can create a positive learning environment that ensures students are offered high quality instructional strategies and are meaningfully engaged across a range of learning experiences.

Wellsprings Friends School (WFS) is an accredited school for youth grades 9-12+. We employ a cooperative, team-based approach in which teachers educate and mentor young people in conventional and alternative methods. We focus on meeting our students where they are developmentally and providing individualized curriculum that promotes lifelong learning.
At Wellsprings, we believe that education is not a "one-size-fits-all" transaction. Our pedagogy is based on the understanding that learning evolves from relationships, engaging curriculum, and the ability to expound upon the inherent interests of each student. POSITION DETAILS:
Job Duties
• Promote a culture of learning built upon student emotional and behavioral engagement, use of best practices, and student interests in activities across all settings.
• Maintain and update special education records as required by district, state, and federal agencies. Keep organized records of all student educational records
• Participate in IEP, educational meetings, and parent-teacher conferences to present reports, work samples, videos, or photographs that communicate individual student progress and performance.
• Use an interdisciplinary team approach to develop an Individualized Education Plan that includes long term goals and objectives.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all individuals affiliated with Wellsprings Friends School and community partners.
• Ability to follow the regulations associated with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), and procedural safeguards and Individual Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and resolve issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to convey information, promote conflict resolution, and build relationships with parents, students, and staff.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Current Oregon Secondary Teaching License (Required)
• Experience teaching high-school aged youth and/or at-promise youth (Preferred)
• Current driver’s license
• First Aid/CPR certification (or obtain within the first 90 days of hire)
• Exceptional communication skills
• Reliable and self-motivated
