POSITION: Middle School Ag Teacher
As an Agricultural Teacher, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping students' understanding of agriculture and its various components.
Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH. Work days and hours are flexible for this position, so the work times and days can be personalized.
COMPENSATION: $44,038.71- $84,954.65
Placement on the salary schedule will be competitive and commensurate with education,
experience, and work schedule. District policy GCBA will be implemented.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching: Design and deliver engaging agricultural science lessons aligned to Oregon State Standards and STEM principles.
Manage and utilize the school’s three greenhouses for instruction in plant science, horticulture, and sustainability.
Create and oversee hands-on projects that may include greenhouse production, composting, seed propagation, soil science, and garden management.
Collaborate with colleagues and the community to enhance agricultural learning opportunities, including field trips, guest speakers, or partnerships.
Maintain greenhouse facilities in collaboration with custodial/maintenance staff to ensure a safe, productive learning environment.
Integrate career exploration into lessons, introducing students to a variety of agriculture- and environment-related pathways.
Promote student responsibility, work ethic, and leadership through classroom and greenhouse activities.
Support school-wide initiatives, PBIS expectations, and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
Curriculum Development: You'll develop curriculum materials, lesson plans, and assessments that align with state standards and educational objectives. This involves researching current trends and best practices in agricultural education to ensure content relevance and effectiveness.
Classroom Management: Maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning is essential. You'll implement effective classroom management strategies to foster student engagement, participation, and respect for one another.
Hands-on Learning: Given the practical nature of agricultural education, you'll organize and supervise hands-on activities, laboratory experiments, and walking field trips to provide students with real-world experiences and reinforce theoretical concepts
Individualized Instruction: Recognizing the diverse learning styles and abilities of students, you'll provide individualized support and enrichment opportunities to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
Collaboration: You'll collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and community stakeholders to integrate agricultural education across disciplines and promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
Professional Development: Continuing education and professional growth are essential aspects of your role. You'll participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences to stay updated on advancements in agricultural education and teaching methodologies.
Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with the local agricultural community, industry professionals, and stakeholders. This may involve organizing guest speakers, industry visits, and partnerships to enhance students' exposure to career opportunities in agriculture.
Administrative Duties: Completing administrative tasks such as grading, attendance records, and reporting student progress to parents and administrators is a fundamental aspect of your role.

Preferred Qualifications
Valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) for middle grades.
Background in agricultural science, biology, plant science, or related fields.
Experience working with greenhouse operations, plant cultivation, or school garden programs.
Strong classroom management and instructional design skills.
Ability to adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs and interests.
Enthusiasm for building student engagement through real-world, hands-on learning experiences.
