The Vernonia School District is nestled in the beautiful Nehalem Valley just 45 minutes west of Portland. The district serves about 578 PK-12 students across two campuses. Mist Elementary School is located 15 miles north of Vernonia and contains two classrooms for students K-5. The Vernonia K-12 Campus houses Vernonia High School, Vernonia Middle School, Vernonia Elementary School, as well as the Vernonia Family Academy.
Position Purpose
To inspire, lead, guide and direct every member of the administrative, instructional, and supportive services teams in setting and achieving the highest standards of excellence in developing and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services, so that each individual student enrolled in the school district will be provided with a complete, valuable, meaningful, and personally rewarding education.
To oversee and administer the use of all school district facilities, property, and funds with to ensure that those resources are utilized in an appropriate manner.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration
· Extensive successful teaching experience, preferably in more than one grade level
· Extensive successful administration experience, preferably both as a school building and central office administrator
· Oregon superintendent licensure/certificate – completed or must be in process
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong academic performance background
· Relatable communicator
· School finance experience
· Public school advocacy experience
· Masters plus 30 or Doctoral Degree preferred
