PURPOSE STATEMENT
The High School Assistant Principal serves as a member of the Walla Walla High School administrative team as an educational leader committed to ensuring high academic achievement, building meaningful relationships, and fostering intellectually, socially, and personally transformative experiences for all students.
They serve as a visible and accessible advocate for students, staff, and families while promoting equitable outcomes and a positive school culture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Established success as an educational leader and productive team member.
• Create and sustain a safe, inclusive, and relationship-centered school culture that promotes academic growth, student belonging, and personal development of all students.
• Lead comprehensive school safety systems including prevention, crisis response, supervision planning, and restorative follow-up practices.
• Lead and supervise operational and student support systems in alignment with district policies, state and federal regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of data-driven plans for increasing student achievement, including the use of multiple student data points.
• Ability to monitor and analyze academic, attendance, and behavioral data to identify trends, address disproportionality, and implement targeted supports that increase student achievement and on-time graduation.
• Assist instructional staff with alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment with state and local district learning goals.
• Support instructional improvement efforts through supervision, feedback, and alignment to district evaluation frameworks, ensuring high-quality learning experiences for all students.
• Manage both staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement and legal responsibilities.
• Partner with the school community to promote student learning.
• Understand the importance of supporting the social/emotional needs of students and the critical role it plays in their success.
• Demonstrate commitment to equitable outcomes by addressing systemic barriers, monitoring discipline and attendance data for disproportionality, and implementing restorative and inclusive practices.

Certification
• Valid Washington State Certificate with Principal Endorsement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of high leverage instructional practices.
• Passion for teaching and learning, with the ability to implement programs that reflect the commitment and direction of the district’s philosophy and strategic planning goals.
• Thorough understanding of instructional strategies that support differentiated instruction, including inclusionary practices.
• Ability to create a safe, orderly, positive school climate for students and staff.
• Ability to foster growth, creativity, and flexibility using a variety of techniques.
• Successful experience in shared decision making, program development, staff supervision and evaluation.
• Ability to develop, implement, and engage staff in ongoing professional development with a focus on improving student learning; ability to evaluate using the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
• Knowledge of restorative practices and trauma-informed systems.
• Ability to analyze discipline and attendance data for equity and implement corrective actions.
• Knowledge and demonstrative skills in the use of technology for teaching and learning.
• Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the operations of public schools.
• Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

PAY LEVEL
260-day contract; Negotiated Salary Range of $147,588.00 - $167,612.00; Retirement, SEBB Benefits, 20 Vacation Days, 13 Paid Holidays, Paid Sick Leave.
