Estacada School District is seeking an education leader to serve as superintendent of schools starting July 1, 2014. ESD #108 is located in Estacada, Oregon, in the foothills of the Cascade Range. The district is made up of two elementary schools, a junior high school, a high school, and a charter school/early college. A small town school environment is provided for 1783 public school students in regular district buildings and approximately 850 students in its charter school. The district’s service area covers a surprisingly large geographic area of more than 750 square miles in the Clackamas River area.
The town of Estacada was named by Budget Travel Magazine as “One of the Best Places You’ve Never Heard Of” because of its closeness to all outdoor activities on the Clackamas River and on Mt. Hood. As part of the Clackamas County area which harvests over 2.9 million trees annually, it is known as the Christmas Tree Capital of the World. For eight decades, Estacada was prominent in the timber industry. Today, the main attractions are the area’s outstanding beauty, its growing art community, and its many recreational opportunities such as camping, hunting, fishing, and boating.
