The Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) and the Oregon Elementary School Principals Association is excited to announce Andrea Porter-Lopez, Principal of Woodlawn Elementary School in the Portland Public School District, as the 2023 Oregon Elementary Principal of the Year. Porter-Lopez was presented with the award on April 28th at a school-wide assembly to the cheers of students and staff.

COSA members elected Majalise Tolan, incoming Superintendent of Lincoln County School District, as COSA President-Elect for 2023-24, during elections held last month. Tolan will serve as COSA President in the 2024-25 school year, succeeding LaShawanta Spears, incoming Assistant Superintendent in the David Douglas School District, who will serve as COSA President in 2023-24. Spears follows Darin Drill, the current 2022-2023 president.  Fourteen additional COSA members were elected to key leadership positions for 2023-2024.

The Coalition of Oregon School Administrators has named Kelly Devlin, Director of Multilingual Programs and Equity for the David Douglas School District, the recipient of the 2023 COSA Leadership Impact Award for her dedication and service to Multilingual students and families. Devlin was presented with the award at the COSA Multilingual & English Learner Conference in Eugene, Oregon on March 10th.
 

Congratulations to Dr. Gustavo Balderas, Superintendent of the Beaverton School District, who has been selected as the AASA President-Elect for 2023-2024.  

Dr. Balderas was named AASA Superintendent of the year in 2020, and NABE National Bilingual Superintendent of the year in 2023. He believes in supporting strong leadership in the superintendency and knows strong district and school leadership is directly related to equitable student outcomes.  

The Oregon Association of Latino Administrators (OALA) is proud to announce the opening of the application process for Cohort 9 of the Aspiring Administrator Leadership Program for Latina/o/x in the state of Oregon.  The application opened on February 2, 2023 and will be due March 24, 2023.

The Oregon Association of Central Office Administrators (OACOA) and the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) have named Tiffanie Lambert, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in the Phoenix-Talent School District, the recipient of the 2023 Achievement of Excellence Award.

(Salem, Ore.) The Oregon Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) and the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) have named Jessica Smith, West Albany High School Assistant Principal in Greater Albany Public  Schools, the 2023 Oregon Assistant Principal of the Year.

(Salem, Ore.) The Oregon Association of School Executives (OASE) and the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) have named Dr. Sara Johnson, Superintendent at Crook County School District, (CCSD), the 2023 Oregon Superintendent of the Year. This award automatically places Johnson in the running for National Superintendent of the Year awarded by the American Association of School Administrators.

COSA is adding two new staff members to its professional team for the 2022-23 school year.

Shelly Reggiani, who currently serves as Director of Equity, Community Engagement and Communications in the North Clackamas School District, has been selected as COSA’s new Senior Director of Learning, Equity and Communications.  Carmen Gelman, currently Principal at Milwaukie High School and Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, has been selected as COSA’s new Director of Professional Learning.  Gelman and Reggiani will begin work at COSA on July 1.

STANFIELD, Ore. – The Oregon Small Schools Association is proud to announce that Beth Burton has been named its 2022 Administrator of the Year. Burton is the superintendent of Stanfield School District in Umatilla County.
