The Rainier School District #13, Rainier, Oregon, School Board, is seeking a highly qualified Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position no later than July 1, 2024.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the School Board in identifying and screening the candidates.

Enrollment: 850

Location: 45 miles northwest of Portland, located on the beautiful Columbia River across from Longview, Washington

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the experience, skills, and abilities essential for leading a school district. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make.

The Rainier School Board is seeking a superintendent who:
• Is passionate about the Rainier School District and community.
• Is a leader with demonstrated integrity with a history of bringing people together, building morale, and building trust within the community.
• Possesses an understanding of, commitment to, and has educational experience in rural communities.
• Is an innovative and proven leader who articulates a clear vision and excels at building group understanding and capacity.
• Understands school finance, demonstrates sound fiscal management and strong budgeting skills.
• Is a visible, accessible, and approachable presence in our community and district.
• Is a collaborative and inclusive leader who learns from and contributes to the learning of others and inspires trust.
• Is a leader who maintains a system of accountability for students and staff.
• understands conflict resolution and places a premium on building long-term relationships.
• Is a creative problem solver who understands the diverse needs of students, families, and staff.
• Is a leader who has the skill to balance all aspects of the district by staying true to the mission, being student centric.
• Is a leader who ensures that the operational functions are working well to support the mission of the district.
• Is an instructional leader who is student outcome oriented, committed to improving student achievement and striving for excellence.
• Utilizes effective communication and listening skills with all constituents.
• Is committed to developing and maintaining a positive relationship with the school board.

Required:
• Is experienced as a lead school district administrator.
• Possesses, is able or has completed the coursework necessary to obtain the appropriate licensure to serve as a superintendent in Oregon.

Preferred:
• Has experience and understanding of a small rural school district and community.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $165,000 DOE

• Interviews with the School Board: Week of May 13, 2024
• Selection of new Superintendent: On or before May 24, 2024
