2020-2021 New Special Education Directors Academy (Virtual)

This seminar series is dedicated to supporting new Directors/Coordinators during their first, second and/or third year of serving their school district as Special Education Directors.  These meetings will focus on current concerns from the field and areas that need clarifying.  Special Education focused seminars are being planned for August 5, 2020, November 6, 2020 and February 17, 2021.  Additional virtual meetings on special topics will be announced throughout the year as needed.

The New Special Education Director Series is for new Directors to learn about important concepts and deadlines throughout the school year, learn new skills from veteran Directors and experience collaborating and networking with COSA, ODE members and colleagues. COVID -19 has created specific challenges for special education Directors and our speakers are also available to field questions and brainstorm with participants. Come join us! Here are what 3 past participants had to say:
“It was great to hear from people in the field and get concrete examples of what issues you may come across during the year.”
“It’s wonderful to be in a room talking with, and learning from, people who do our work. It’s a rare treat in special education to be surrounded by others who speak your same language - and know all the same acronyms!”
“The new special education directors academy allowed me to connect with other directors throughout the state. This is a unique opportunity to network with like minded educators that often work in isolation.”
