Coos Bay, Oregon — In recognition of her outstanding leadership and transformative impact on student learning, Kara Davidson, principal of Eastside School in Coos Bay, has been named the 2025 Oregon Elementary Principal of the Year. The award, given annually by the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) and the Oregon Elementary School Principals Association (OESPA), highlights exemplary elementary school leadership across the state.

Vernonia, OR – The Oregon Small Schools Association (OSSA) is proud to announce that Ms. Michelle Eagleson has been named its 2025 Principal of the Year. Ms. Eagleson is the principal of Vernonia Elementary School part of the Vernonia School District, located in Vernonia Oregon, in Columbia County.

In November, the Education Expedition made a meaningful stop at Willamina School District, a rural district of fewer than 1,000 students in Yamhill County, near the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Originally, the visit aimed to learn about Willamina’s celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day, but it quickly became clear that the district’s commitment to integrating tribal history and culture runs far deeper than a single event.
